About duplicate files[edit source]

Hi, I've no problems to delete all files marked as duplicates, but I think it is much better don't upload them in first place. Is it possible? --^|_| (talk) 12:50, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Yep, doing that when feasible. --Cirno.pngCappucciruno 14:07, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
I know there exists some tools that can automate the kill of duplicates, let me know if something like that may be useful. Just to help you avoid lose all that time to search and find them.--^|_| (talk) 14:25, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
My mistake. My map duplicate (Tanjay Kilns) was because I didn't notice the same map was already uploaded, just under a different name (Gloomdross Forest). As for the quest duplicate, I added it as a placeholder until I can replace it with a different one later. I could have just used the Quest giver image for now though. Sorry about that, won't happen again. As for those tools, they could help avoid future hassles; so long as it's not too much of an inconvenience to find and implement them. --FallingMoonSinkingStar (talk) 16:38, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
Not a big issue, don't worry, I just were thinking if I can be of some help on that ;) --^|_| (talk) 17:45, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
When you mention tools, do you mean ones for individual use or integrated into the wiki? The main problems I'm having with duplicates at the moment are:
  1. I can't easily find duplicates in my own files if they have different names
  2. If the file has a duplicate on the wiki and was renamed from the original name (only game files), I can't know without searching through all the files before uploading (and I very well might miss it) or uploading and seeing it appear in Special:ListDuplicatedFiles
  3. The duplicates are sometimes slightly different (resolution or background color) so I don't know even after uploading it
I've been doing my best removing duplicates before uploading and flagging the ones I cause. --Cirno.pngCappucciruno 01:54, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
I guess I can try to save some of your time, just checking Special:ListDuplicatedFiles and delete them without wait for them being categorized. So from now on, no need to put duplicates in category, I'll delete them "on sight". About the different size or slightly differences, I think we will have to deal with them by hand and decide what and if delete by hand, so the delete category can still be used there. --^|_| (talk) 08:42, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Zone or Location Template[edit source]

Hi, I noticed the recent updates to the infobox zone and infobox location templates. Tbh, when I was working on Oakshade Village, I did it based off of the Bamboo Village page, which was using the Zone infobox, and I thought that was to be the general location template. Do you want the Location template to be the de-facto location template instead? I mean, I don't necessarily mind either, but I will be willing to go back and revamp all the made location pages if so. I just tried it out on the Jadestone Village page.

Hi, de facto, zone and location templates are right now quite messed up, because them were coming from old user-translated data and only recently got some attention because the region/zone swap, but more work is still to do on them. I only had to touch them recently because the introduction of the two continents that had to be between "world" and "zone". The optimal situation needs to have four different templates: one for zone, one for region (that is, something with two or more locations/dungeons) and finally one for locations and one for dungeons. Another problem with actual templates are some overlapping parameters between zone and location templates, referring to same thing but with different names, thus making the use of the template more difficult for wiki beginners. Right now it is best to use the Infobox zone only for zones, and Infobox location for everything else, this way it will be more easy track places where the location template have to be replaced by the incoming dungeon or region templates I'd like to introduce ASAP. --^|_| (talk) 14:53, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
Just to close this argument, here are the templates: Zones: Template:Infobox zone, regions: Template:Infobox region, locations: Template:Infobox location, dungeons: Template:Infobox Dungeon --^|_| (talk) 21:34, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

New region/zone edits to templates[edit source]

Hi, with the new edits to the templates it appears that the definitions of the regions vs zones have changed. To clarify - previously, Viridian Coast = region and Everdusk = zone; now it's the opposite? Need to double check with you because with the update of the template many of the locations are now categorized incorrectly. thanks! Wooleen (talk) 00:37, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Yes, it is not an error, the official translation literally swapped the two terms, so everywhere we had "region", it is a zone instead, and vice-versa. A little messy but nothing serious, we just have to deal it and cleanup, hope all will be good in a short time frame, and thank you a lot for your help!--^|_| (talk) 12:38, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! Updated instance infobox template and the location pages, hopefully everything's good now Wooleen (talk) 20:12, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi there! I am the person who talked on another talk page about not being able to create a new page. The page I could not create was Mist Slash, and I followed your advice by making it as a short page and then adding the content. If you wanted to test the code that triggered the error, it is all currently on the Mist Slash page, published.

Thanks to notice me about it. The problem seems to rely on references. As long as you provide info that can be obtained in-game, there is no need to add any reference about it. The wiki itself is made by obtaining data from the game and playing the game, so any reference about who or from where the info (about the game) came from, can (needs to) be safely avoided.--^|_| (talk) 15:51, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Changing side link from Zones to Regions[edit source]

Heeey, How do I change "Zones" to the left menu bar to Region? Or even Map? Because When I check it, it's a mess (I am currently editing it as much as possible), but i cannot edit the page title. I want to change it other than Zone considering zone is very little area in definition, and in old description of the page it has regions after zones which in definition region is way bigger than zone. If you know how to change it please do let me know (or teach me) :) Thanks in advance! - FlexMahGamingMuscles

Hi, the left main menu is a protected page, I've to talk with the admin about it. Anyway yes, Zone is not appropriate and it may better have it named to "Regions" (as long as Zones is in effect a list of regions and their zones). Will forward the request. --^|_| (talk) 17:04, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
So are we talking from only changing the link from Zones to Regions, or actually changing their definitions? Correct me if I'm wrong but FlexMahGamingMuscles seems to be saying he wants it to be World > Region > Zone, while it's been agreed to be World > Zones > Regions (as found in-game). --Cirno.pngCappucciruno 23:25, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
None of this. In this talk page there also is a brief summary how the world is divided, that is: World > Continents > Zones (the ones listed in game client map) > Regions > Locations > Dungeons. The problem is that we still have here and there old references to the zone and region meaning swapped, and I'd like search and find all misleading stuff still inside the wiki, often buried in unused templates and so on. The menu link itself have the problem that it is named and links to "Zones", but Zones page instead is talking about the "World" (and zones within), and this will not helps clarity. My precedent statement were not so much clear about it. tl;dr: No, nothing will change, Regions are inside Zones. Most likely, Zones page will be renamed to something better. --^|_| (talk) 10:55, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
The left bar has been updated. Now we have World pointing to World map. Have also noticed the Lore menu were pointing to a missing page, and corrected it to the world lore page. --^|_| (talk) 11:18, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Skill lists on class pages[edit source]

Hello, and welcome to the wiki! A bit late on the welcome, sorry. I saw that you were doing some work with skill lists on some of the class pages. There is a lot of disconnect on the style of these lists and I'd like to start a discussion about which style the wiki should go with. I started a discussion here and I'll message some of the other active editors as well. I'd like to try and figure this out before too much more work is done, since some of the work might be lost depending on which for is used. --Sigilbaram (talk) 22:49, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Formatting Weapon Pages[edit source]

Hi, I just started a conversation on Talk:Weapons to reach a consensus on how best to format weapon pages in the future (there isn't a lot now, but I'm planning to start in the near future). If you have time, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks a lot in advance! Chifuyu (talk) 01:34, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Adding nosell to Template:Itembox[edit source]

Hi, just wondering if you could help tweak the Itembox template a bit (I have no idea how to work templates, sorry). I want it to be able to display the "Unable to Sell" line, perhaps if 'nosell' or just 'n' was inputted into the Sell line. Cus if I just leave it blank, then ppl might think that whoever edited the page just forgot to input the info, instead of the item actually being unsellable. Btw, I'm thinking about the Hongmoon Ring, which is apparently the only Hongmoon accessory to be unsellable.

Hi, I've added the new notradesell value to the possible ones in trade parameter, it does the requested behavior and sell can be kept blank, and used it on Hongmoon Ring --^|_| (talk) 13:52, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Awesome, I see it. Thank you very much! Chifuyu (talk) 00:45, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

I presume you could just use color code dark red for the term "Unable to trade/sale" since we don't really need a wiki page just for "Unable to trade/sale"?

Can you please provide an example so I can check it? --^|_| (talk) 08:46, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
