Legendary Gem Hammers can only be used out of combat and will add a gem socket to the legendary weapon. The amount of Legendary Gem Hammers needed to add a socket depends on the amounts of sockets already added to the weapon:

Socket Number Legendary Gem Hammers Required
1st Free
2nd 2
3rd 5
4th 7
5th 15
6th 22

Note: Upgrading the Seraph/Baleful legendary to stage 3 will automatically unlock 3 free gem sockets.
