When a player's HP reaches zero, it is not yet completely dead but enters in Downed state.

There are 3 states relating to death in Blade & Soul: Downed, Chi Restoration and Dead. There are several ways to recover back to Living state from each of these states.

Downed[ | ]

The player enters a Downed state when their HP reaches 0. In this state, the player is laying on the ground face down and is able to crawl at approximately one-tenth of the normal running speed. The player is given 80 seconds to crawl out of the aggressiveness zone of monsters to be able to Restore Chi back in the living state. The player has several options to recover from this state:

  • The player presses the "1" key to go into Chi Restoration.
  • The player presses the "2" key to signal for help from party members.
  • If the player is equipping a PvP related costume, the "3" key will trigger surrender, which will revive the player to the nearest respawn point and un-equip the costume, removing the PvP state.
  • The player presses the "4" key to revive to the nearest Windstride point or the entrance of the Dungeon if the player dies in a Dungeon.

If the player is hit or the timer runs out while in the Downed state they go into the Dead state.

Chi Restoration[ | ]

The player can only enter Chi Restoration state by pressing "1" while in Downed state. The player has to Restore Chi for 15 to 20 seconds without being attacked to go back to the living state with about 75% of the full HP. If the player is hit they go into the Dead state. Other players can decrease the Chi Restoration time by approaching the player and channeling their Chi. Each player that channels Chi reduces the Chi Restoration time by 5 seconds and each player can channel Chi only once. Some classes have specific skills that protect meditating player from damage to help them meditate safely.

Dead State[ | ]

The player enters a dead state in 5 cases:

  • The player's timer runs out while in Downed state.
  • The player is hit while in Chi Restoration state.
  • The player is hit while in Downed state.
  • The player has passed the amount of time allowed to kill a boss in.
  • The player tries to cross the fire barrier into a chamber of an on-going fight.

In these cases, the player cannot move and is laying on the ground face down. There are several options to recover from the state:

  • Another player revives the dead player on spot by channeling their Chi for 20 seconds.
  • The player opens the inventory and uses a Revival Charm.

Though the player cannot move in this state, they can still move the camera to look around and can use the chat to talk or signal for help.
